new antibiotic developments, many drug candidates from in vitro assay systems often have no therapeutic effects in in vivo animal models using mammal.\nTo overcome this problem, we established an in vivomimic infection assay using silkworm larvae as a host animal, and started to apply this assay to the primary screening for new antibiotics of microbial origin.\nComparing with an in vitro assay using paper disk method, the hit rate of candidate culture broths showing a therapeutic effect in silkworm infection assay markedly decreased, but isolated compounds have included some clinical drugs and their related compounds.\nFurthermore, we discovered new anti-MRSa antibiotics, designated nosokomycins A to D, from the culture broth of Streptomyces cyslabdanicas K04-0144, and demonstrated that nosokomycin A also showed a good therapeutic effect in an in vivo mouse infection assay as well as silkworm infection assay.\nThus, we predicted that candidate compounds discovered by silkworm infection assay would have higher potential as antibiotic
