 note = {1-Arylsulfonyl-5-methoxycarbonyl-2(1H)-pyridones bearing an electron-withdrawing group at ortho or meta position for sulfonyl group were chemoselectively prepared using NaH as a base in good yields. Diels-Alder reactions of 1-arylsulfonyl-2(1H)-pyridones with 2, 3-dimethyl-1, 3-butadiene afforded stereoselectively quinolone derivatives under atmospheric pressures. But it seems the substituent group on the benzene ring have a little influence on the yields.},
